Tips on how to avoid Medical problems

Spending a lot of hours on tablets or mobile devices may give your children many advantages and intelligence in dealing with technology, but there is a high price in return, which is the negative impact on the mental and physical health of your child.

All the research that talks about smartphone addiction has proven the dangerous effect on a child's upbringing. Here are some of the risks that children are exposed to as a result of spending a lot of time on tablets or mobile devices:

1- Impact on social relationships
Children use mobile devices more and more, can become addicted to it, and not spend enough time with their family or friends. They are more likely to be physically connected with friends and share pictures and text messages online instead of meeting them in person and interacting with them, which makes them lose many important social skills that develop and appear with actual interaction and direct relationships with friends and family, which makes them vulnerable to many problems later in their lives.

2- Health problems
Excessive use of mobile devices may be harmful to children's health. The more they use mobile devices, the less physical activity they do. The problem is that playing games online is coupled with snacking, replacing a balanced diet. Since kids spend more time in front of these screens, they spend less time playing and running and burning calories outside and may not spend any time playing and running. Over time, these habits can lead to significant weight gain.

3- Browsing online can be dangerous
While surfing the Internet, we often encounter harmful things like scams, viruses on devices, and other dangers disguised as ads. In addition to completely unwanted content that your child may be exposed to by chance or out of curiosity. Most adults know it and can easily avoid it, but what about our children? A study from 2005 says that 70% of teens ages 15-17 accidentally stumbled across Internet pornography. What about these days?

4- Excessive use of mobile devices reduces the number of hours of sleep and causes nervous exhaustion

There is an important study on the relationship of sleep quality and excessive use of smartphones, as it has proven that there is a close relationship between the excessive use of cell phones and the lack of sleep hours. The study stated that 75% of children have at least one mobile device or tablet in the bedroom. What is the effect of the lack of sleep hours on our children?

The lack of sleep hours has a very bad effect on the brain, as during sleep the brain performs many tasks that are related to the body's nerve network in order to prepare for the next day and depriving the brain of doing these tasks will make your child unprepared to perform his daily tasks normally.

5. Does your smartphone affect your relationship with your children?
Take time to think about it, have you checked your phone for notifications how often? How many times have you opened WhatsApp, Facebook or Instagram when you are with your kids?

Most of the people we know do this many times, mobile devices are great for getting over boredom. But checking mobile devices for notifications when we're near kids has its downsides. According to a study published by the University of Michigan Health System, "Parents' use of mobile technology around young children may cause internal tension, conflicts, and negative interactions with their children."

What do we do to overcome all these problems? This is what we will be discussing in the next article this week.
