With December approaching us, we can’t help about the special day in that month....December 10 : Human Rights Day. And what’s more important when it comes to human Rights than health.

Health is a major human Rights that should not be neglected. According to the WHO’s Constitution states that “The highest attainable standard of health as a fundamental Rights of every human being.”

This means that everyone has the Rights to the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health, which includes access to all medical services, sanitation, adequate food, decent housing, healthy working conditions, and a clean environment.

Health care must be provided as a public good for all, financed publicly and equitably. The human Rights to health care means that hospitals, clinics, medicines, and doctors’ services must be accessible, available, acceptable, and of good quality for everyone, on an equitable basis, where and when needed.

Health policies and programs have the ability to either promote or violate human Rights, including the Rights to health, depending on the way they are designed or implemented. Taking steps to respect and protect human rights upholds the health sector’s responsibility to address everyone’s health.

Also as the world celebrates the Human Rights day, we too should reflect on our lives examining our health. If we end up not feeling satisfied with what we find, then it’s time to make a change to make things better.
