With everything going on around, it’s easy to lose touch and grow apart from your loved ones. It’s becoming hard for work, study, and daily chores to not affect our family communication. And because we know so well the importance of this communication, here’re some tips on how to improve communication between family members.
Start with a clean slate. In order to start over you need to start with a clean slate letting go of all the trouble you and your family members went through in the past. Better off, try to focus on the happy moments you lived together instead.
Set goals. Goals help keep you focused; it can be as simple as having a text conversation with every family member once a week or as in-depth as setting family gathering every now and then.
Team building exercises. Teambuilding activities can be a great way to make you feel in sync with your family members. It helps with building up the trust and confidence in each other that may have been lost over the years and start working towards a better place.
Take Interest. Always try to show your care and interest in your family members’ affairs. Avoid taking interest only on what you have to say and do, and try to take a sincere interest in what the other has to say.
Have each member pick a group activity. Even though you’re all from one family, each one of the family members has his/her own hobbies and interests. That’s why it’s important to give a chance for each family member to pick a group activity to share with the whole family each time.
In a nutshell, family is our own backbone when needed; that’s why it’s important to invest our time and effort to make sure we have a strong and healthy family communication.
