1- A good breakfast . Never underestimate the power of a good healthy breakfast. If you don’t eat a healthy breakfast, your body goes into starvation mode. That’s why it’s important to start your day with a good breakfast. Go for a morning munchies that are slow to digest and leave you feeling fuller longer.

 

2- Drop the decaf . Next time you need a cup of coffee,  don’t take it decaf as a study published in the journal Physiology & Behavior found that the average metabolic rate of people who drank caffeinated coffee increased 16 percent over that of those who drank decaf.

 

3- Protein-up your lunch . Adding protein to your meals helps build and maintain lean muscle mass. Muscle burns more calories than fat does, even at rest. Try to add about 30 grams of protein to each meal you eat throughout the day.

 

4- Have a cup of green tea . Some call the green tea the closest thing to a metabolism potion. According to studies, drinking two to four cups of green tea per day may torch an extra 50 calories. That translates into about five pounds per year.

 

5- Don’t forget your omega-3's . Omega-3s balance blood sugar and reduce inflammation, helping to regulate metabolism. They could also reduce resistance to the hormone leptin, which researchers have linked to how fast fat is burned.

 

6- Go organic . You wouldn't fill your car engine with pesticides, right? Then why should you fill your body with it. Fruits, vegetables, and grains grown without pesticides keep your fat-burning system running at full-tilt because they don’t expose your thyroid to toxins.
